The Ecole des Mines d'albi is offering a post-doc position related to new powdered fuel combustion/pollutant emissions.

The work is concerned with the combustion of a variety of powdered solid fuels (coal, petcoke, biomass) and the understanding/modelling of particle burnout, and of gas phase unburnt and NO species. The impact of the addition of limestone will be examined.

Both experiments with an existing Entrained Flow Reactor and Computational Fluid Dynamics modelling (using a commercial code) will be performed.

Location:

“Center for Energy and Environmental Processes” UMR CNRS 2392 : Laboratoire de Génie des Procédés des Solides Divisés, Ecole des Mines d’Albi, France (SO, 1 h from Toulouse)

In collaboration with an international group for cement plant design and construction.

Duration:

one year, to be started as soon as possible.

Expertise domains:

  • Combustion of powdered solid fuels; combustion chemistry
  • Entrained flows / fluidised beds
  • Formation / reduction of nitrogen oxides
  • CFD modelling (FLUENT software)

The good standard of English is necessary
